An engineer comes to your plant, walks the floor with you and works out what your dust collection actually needs. It costs nothing, it commits you to nothing, and you keep the findings either way.

Dust collection cannot be specified accurately from a machine list. Two shops with identical equipment can need very different systems depending on layout, duct run length, how many operators work at once and what the building physically allows. The only reliable way to find that out is to stand in it.
So the assessment is a measuring exercise. If your existing system can be fixed rather than replaced, we will say so. If the real problem is a hood in the wrong place rather than an undersized collector, you will hear that too.
Six things we look at.
The order varies with the plant. Nothing on the list gets skipped.
Machine setup
What runs, what runs together and what is due to arrive. Simultaneous demand sets the size of the system, so the shift pattern matters more than the equipment count.
Dust source areas
Where dust escapes capture and settles. Fines on beams and light fittings say more about the real problem than anything written on the existing collector.
Layout and space
Where a unit could stand, how the duct would reach it, and whether the ceiling allows filter changes. This is where indoor or outdoor gets decided.
Dust volume
How much waste the plant produces per shift and in what form. Volume drives the discharge method, and discharge often drives the size of the collector.
Current problems
Poor capture, blocked branches, a collector that trips, filters needing weekly attention. Existing faults are the cheapest information available about the real duty.
Expansion plans
Machines you intend to add and lines you plan to move. Designing the main for what is coming is far cheaper than rebuilding it in two years.
How the visit actually runs.
Nothing about it should be disruptive. The plant keeps running and so do we.
We start with a short conversation in the office to hear the problem in your words, then go out onto the floor. Most of the time is spent at the machines, looking at hoods and pickups and following the duct route back to wherever collection currently happens. We take measurements and photographs as we go, with your permission.
Length depends on the size of the building and how many machines are on extraction. We agree a window when the visit is booked and work around production rather than through it, so nothing has to stop for us.
Afterward you get a record of the findings and a recommendation covering filtration technology, siting and realistic scope. If you take it further, that becomes the input to the design and installation process. If not, the findings are still yours to use, including with somebody else.

Is the factory visit really free?
Yes. No charge for the assessment and no charge for the findings, whether or not you buy anything. A system sized from a phone call is a system we end up revisiting, and that costs everybody more than the visit.
Do I need to know which dust collector I want before booking?

How long does a factory assessment take?
It depends on the size of the building and how many machines are on extraction. We agree a window when the visit is booked and work around production. A single machine cell is short, a multi building site takes longer.

You receive a record of what we found and a recommendation covering filtration technology, siting and realistic scope. If you proceed it becomes the input to the design stage. If not, nothing further happens and nothing is owed.
